Lake Burton Fishing Report

Lake Burton Fishing Report
Water Level: full pool
Water Temp: 70 deg
Clarity: clear

Bass:
The top water bite has started. The fish are all up and down the lake for about 2 hrs every morning and sometimes mid day. We have been throwing Spro Top Dogs and Small Lucky Craft Sammy’s in Herring color. We boated about 24 fish on top water in one five hour trip this week. The action should get better as we head towards the high 60 deg mark over the next few weeks. These fsh will remain shallow as long as the water temps don’t dive into the 50s before the month is out.
Brown Trout
The Big Brown have started getting shallower with the cooling trend. These trout are hanging on a 20 ft bottom and are biting anything that’s looks like a Herring. Try casting a small Parker spoon and letting it fall almost to the bottom on the main lake points. Slow retrieve works best with a jerking action all the way to the boat. These fish will start to work their way to the creeks over the next few weeks to spawn. The young trout will remain over the main lake points and humps and bite any kinds of crank bait or spinner.
Walleye
The Walleye have also began their pilgrimage up the lake towards the creek mouths. These fish are feeding on a 30 ft bottom early in the morning and at night. Try using live bait ( med,lg shinners with a 1/2 oz jig) when targeting try these Walleye. Studying the fish finder is the key to catching Walleye this time of year. Look for the Walleye to get shallower and feed on top over the next few weeks all the way through winter. These fish love the cold!

Thanks
Good luck!
