Lake Burton Fishing Report:

Clarity. Stained

Condition. Turning Over

Brown Trout:
Most of the Brown Trout are still hanging around the south portions of the Lake. We have been catching these fish over main lake point and humps in the 30ft depths. This is a good time of year to try trolling spoons. A 5″ Silver/Green spoon combo has been working best. Alternate the distance behind the boat (20 to 60ft). Try maintaining a speed of 2 1/2 mph when trolling. The fish are biting shallow and as deep as 18ft, so vary the depths. Keep a close eye out for the Browns coming up on top chasing the Blue-Backs. This is a good time to throw a 1/4 oz Kastmaster spoon (silver/blue). This pattern should continue to work for the next few weeks.

Bass:
The Spotted Bass have been showing up in huge schools over the main lake points. They are chasing the Herring and gorging themselves. We have had fun the past few trips catching these fish on topwater (Sammy’s & Spooks). White crank baits have also been producing a good number of fish. Look for most of these fish to be staging in the 15 ft depths. The Large Mouth seem to be feeding well in the channels up in the creeks. These fish are biting a white jerk bait (Spro Mcstick) really well. Try tipping these jerk baits with a dresser treble. Keep a close eye for these fish chasing bait around. A chrome Super Spook is handy when the Large Mouth are feeding on top. Look for the swim bait bite to take off as we near mid November and the water temps dive into the 50’s. Herring color and shape swim baits seem to work best.

Walleye:
The Walleye bite has really picked up. We are catching most of these fish on live medium Crappie minnows with a split shot. Try targeting brush pile or rock structure in the 25 to 28 ft depths. The trolling bite should pick up over the next few weeks. Try trolling Shad Raps Sr7 any color at 2mph 80 ft behind the boat. This bite should last for several weeks.

Good luck!
Wes Carlton
