Lake Burton Fishing
Saturday:
We fished Lake Burton today and had an awesome day! The fishing trip started off a little slow with a couple of small Brown trout. We started using live bait and the Big Bass started biting. The first to come to the boat was a 5 1/2lbs Spotted Bass follwed by several more in the 4 to 5 range. After our second stop we boated several big Largemouth Bass with one being 7lbs. Using live bait on a Fishing Charter can really improve the odds and size of what is caught. Last week on Lake Lanier a customer told me he was impressed with the fish we caught on live bait. He said he had been fishing the lake for 30 years and had never seen the quality of Bass and Walleye we were catching. Goodluck!!!

Lake Lanier Striper Fishing
December
The Striped Bass Fishing has really picked up. We have been catching solid fish this month in the 10 to 20lbs range. The early morning bite has been best when freelining Herring or trout. By mid-morning we are switching up to a downline rig with the same baits. The umbrella rigs have been producing the biggest nunber of fish trolled about 80 to 100ft behind the boat. Goodluck

Trout
The Brown Trout have been biting good this month and should continue to for so for the next month or so. We have been catching 8 to 15 trout per trip with an occasional 6lber. The top water trolling bite has proven best. We have been trolling Loco spoons (gold) and mini umbrella rigs (5 arm swarm rig with rapala countdowns). For best results troll 50 to 80 ft behind the boat at approximately 1.8mph.
Bass
The Spotted Bass have started their descent deep. Try using a spoon (Kastmaster) or deep diving crank bait (Rapala X Rap). The spoons are working good early in the morning or on cloudy days. The crank baits have been producing mid-day to early evening. Today we had three fish over 5 lbs and one over 6lbs.
The large mouth are still a little shallow. Most of these fish are biting a weighted fluke (pearl) or a jig (heavy cover brown).
Walleye
The Walleye are hungry and have been feeding most if the day. Try using a Blue-Back Herring with a weight and flurocarbon leader 6ft( 25 to 30 ft of water on main lake points). Be patient and let the fish eat the bait. This is the key to landing these fish. We have seen some good fish this week. This pattern should hold for the next 2 months.

Lake Burton Brown Trout
Today we fished Lake Burton for big Brown Trout. We were succesful. Mr. Smith and family from Buckhead Ga. Caught 5 Browns over 6 lbs today with one being 10.4lbs( a toad). The trout were all caught off of live bait (Bluebacks). The bite should continue to get better over the next couple of week before prespawn. I will post pics later. Capt. Wes Carlton
Lake Lanier Fishing Charter
Today we fished the north and south ends of Lake Lanier. We boated 19 Striped Bass with the average size being around 8lbs. The fish seem to be hanging in the 40 to 50 ft range around and close to deepwater(trees). We also caught 26 Spotted Bass. The water temps have dropped a couple degrees and should continue to help improve the fish bite. All of our fish were caught on Bluebacks on downlines today from 14 ft to 40ft.
