Fishing guides can be expensive but there are several reasons you should hire a fishing guide. You can go out with a fishing guide by yourself but most allow two people so you can split the cost. In most cases it is well worth it. If you hire a fishing guide you are likely to catch more fish than if you go on your own. Fishing guides are on the water almost every day and keep up with what the fish are doing. They can put you in the right place at the right time. We spend hours doing this every week and want the most for everyone we take out. Hiring a guide is a great alternative to buying a boat or fishing from the bank.

Lake Burton Fishing Report
Lake Level 7 ft below full pool
Clarity: clear
Water Temp: 43 deg
The Lake is now back to its normal winter pool level with the recent rainfall that Georgia has received. The Bass bite has been good. Most of the fish we caught came off a 1/2 oz white Super Spin with an with Zoom Flake paddle tail. These fish are glued to the bottom so try rolling the bait just above the bottom on long points over the main lake. The strike zone seems to be in the 28 ft range. The bite is a very soft bite so be patient. I heard of a recent tournament that produced some really big Spotted Bass. This means that timing is everything this time of year. The mid morning midday bite is probably the best choice right now. Look for these fish to hold this same pattern for the next few weeks. The Large Mouth bite will pick up as we near the warmer afternoons of February. These fish always seem to bite the Super Spin tipped with a fluke or swim bait well! Deep diving jerk baits Strike King XD10 also work well this time of year.
Brown Trout:
The trout has been great the last few days. Finding the schools have been the hard part. When you do find a school they are biting aggressively! Trolling a Kastmaster spoon or Little Cleo seems to be the ticket. The depth on the trout has been varying. We have seen the fish on the surface one minute and 50ft deep the next. Relying on good electronics this time of year is the key to scoring on the Brown trout. The Trout should start pulling up a little shallower over the next few weeks and the trolling bite will pick up. This is a good time of year to troll small jerk baits that replicate Blue Back Herring. The bait population seems to be plentiful and these fish are following close by.
Walleye
The Walleye bite will be in full swing within a few weeks. These fish are hungry and aggressive. They seem to bite better before the Spawn. Jigging Crappie minnows on a 1/8 oz jig head around brush piles and rock outcroppings seems to work best. Most of the Walleye seem to be hanging in the 25ft range. The morning bite has proven to be best this time of year unless your willing to brave the cold nights.
Good luck

The last few weeks have been tough on lake Burton. With the water being draw down to almost 13ft below full pool it was hard accessing. We did managed to get in a couple of days. The trout have been hit or miss lately with the water fluctuations. Finding the schools have been the hard part. When you do find a school they are biting aggressively! Lake Lanier Fishing/ Report
With the recent rains the lake seems to be coming up a little. Most of the striped Bass are still on the same pattern. Deep early in the morning’s and move towards the heated shallows in the afternoon coralling the baitfish. Look for birds this time of yea, they are a good indicator of where the bait is. Most of the bigger Striped bass are hanging on a 35 to 40 ft bottom. We have had our best success downlining blue-backs or small trout.
Lake Lanier Walleye Fishing
Walleye:
The Walleye bite has picked up. I look for these fish to start feeding better over the next few weeks as the water temperatures dive into the low 50 deg mark. The Walleye love the cold weather and seem to always bite better during the winter months. Try targeting these fish in the 9 to 18 ft depths in and around rocks and brush. Rapala Sr5 and Sr7 seem to be the best lure we have found for casting to these fish. Use a light 6 to 8 lbs flurocoated line. Working a Hopkins spoon over any long lake point works well. The spoon works good for Walleye and Spotted Bass.
Thanks & always
Good Luck Fishing

Water Temp 52deg

Water Level 5 ft doen
Bass:
Start out the morning alternating a Super Fish (super spin) tipped with a white fluke and a jerk bait on the main lake points. As the day warms move to the clay banks and throw a white crank bait that dives to the 8-12ft range. If the wind picks up throw a Double Willow Leaf spinner bait on the points. Look for the bass to move deeper as the water cools towards the mid 40’s. It’s almost spooning time!
Good luck

Brown Trout:
The trout are still fairly shallow in the backs of the creeks. We have been catching these fish casting small Rapala countdowns and Duo Realis 80 in the Morning Dawn color. These fish are aggressive and want the bait moving fast. Try rolling these baits as fast as possible without them breaching the water. The bigger Browns have moved over the main lake channel and are feeding on the Blue back Herring. We have been trolling Crocodile spoons for these fish at 16 ft depths. The best bite seems to be mid-day for most of these fish. Look for the younger trout to move down the lake over deeper water over the next couple of weeks as the water cools. Try using a bigger spoon ( Georgia Blade) 3in trolling them at the 20ft depth range. The next few weeks is the time of year to catch a real trophy!

December is upon us and the shallow water bite is still hot! The Striped Bass are biting good throughout the day. Most of these fish are tipping the scales at 12 to 15 lbs with a few 20’s and an occasional 30 lber. This is a good time of year to catch Striped Bass on Bucktail Jigs. The Capt Mack Farr 3/8oz white seems to work best. Cast these jigs in toward the banks in the morning’s working then out over a 20 ft bottom. Hold on because when a big fish hits it the drags gonna scream!! These fish should hold this same pattern for the next fee weeks. Good luck;
