Fishing Reports

Another great guided trip on Lake Hartwell

On Monday I guided a customer on Lake Hartwell for the second time in two weeks. Once again the fog was very thick and had us pined in close to the Tugaloo State Park boat ramp. We made out way to one of the nearby creeks we have found fish in over the past few weeks. We found fish schooling on top water chasing bait. We were able to catch several spotted bass out of this school. We moved to the next creek to find more fish schooling. We were throwing a fishhead spin and when the fish would blow up on the bait we would cast the fishhead into the school or fire a jerkbait at them. Both baits were producing fish. After the fish stopped blowing up on the surface I made my way to the backs of the creek in 12ft to 18ft of water. We landed several good largemouth on this pattern. As the fog burned off we went to the southend of the lake. Found several magnum spots on points. We moved out to deep water in the early afternoon. I marked a school of fish in the top of the timber. I fired my fishhead out over the timber a brought back a crappie that weighed over two pounds. When the bite slowed we moved back up the lake and fished with a shakyheads. On the last cast of the day my customer pulled a five pound largemouth out of a brush pile. I marked several schools of Hybrid/striper on the graph. Looking forward to taking some livebait up there and pull for those monsters.
