Fishing Reports

Lake Lanier Fishing

The Striper bite continues to be good! Most of the fish we have been catching have been mid way back in the creeks. We have good success with free lines early morning and late evening. Mid morning to mid day the downline bite has been decent. We have found most if these fish on a 35 to 50 ft bottom. Trolling u rigs has been successful during the mid day when the fish are not as active.
Good Luck Fishing on Lake Lanier!

Bass
The Spotted Bass bite has been good the last few days. We have caught fish both shallow and deep. Most of our bigger Spots have come off a 30ft bottom mid way back in the creeks. Spoons and Under spins are the ticket right now and should continue to be over the next few weeks. The key to catching fish this time of year other than sight fishing, is paying close attention to your electronics. We have caught a few Large Mouths on steep ledges with swim baits. This bite should pick up over the next few weeks if water temperatures hold.

Brown Trout
The bite has been ok and should continue to get better once the silt from the recent rains settles. We have caught some trout trolling rappala countdowns and Yo-Zuri 3D crystal minnows. Trolling at a speed of 2.8-3mph seems to be the ticket. We have caught a few Rainbows on some smaller mepps spoons the last couple of days.

Good Luck!

Lake Lanier Fishing

Winter Fishing has been great! We have seen lots of big schools of fish out over the main lake channels and in the backs of creeks. Free lining trout and Herring seems to be the ticket lately. There has been a decent top water bite as well.

Bass
The Bass bite has been great the last few days! We have caught some big Spotted Bass and Large Mouths on ledges close to the main lake Channels. These fish are aggressive and hit with determination! We have been casting in and around deep water docks close to outcroppings. A sinking swim bait has been the most productive. This pattern should last a few more weeks as we transition into a deeper water spoon bite.

Trout
The Brown Trout bite has been decent the last few weeks. Most of the trout we have caught have been on trolling small spoons (Little Cleo’s) and casting to surfacing fish. We have caught a few bigger Browns on Blue Back Herring free lined over the main lake channel. This pattern should continue for the next several weeks.

Walleye
The Walleye bite has begun after a long awaited warm fall. We have been catching most of our fish on a 20 to 25 ft bottom. We have been trolling crawler harnesses (night crawlers) at about 1.5 mph in and around brush piles. These fish are clinging close to structure and will not travel very far from these areas. Rocky Banks and points have been another good area to Target the North Georgia Walleye. Try working an area several times before giving up. These fish sometimes take some coercion and don’t always bite on the first pass. The Walleye bite should continue to get better over the next few weeks.
Good Luck!

Bass
The bass bite has been steady over the last few weeks. We have been catching some really big Large Mouth and Spotted Bass. The shallow top water bite has been great! We have been starting our morning off in the backs of creeks throwing swim baits and jerk baits. Herring color Sebille Swim baits have been the best lately. We have been following the swim bait cast up with a Spring Mcstick for those skeptical fish. After an hour or so of fishing the creeks try working long points at the mouths of creeks. This bite should continue over the next couple of weeks until we see those 50deg water temps.

Walleye
The Walleye bite has been a little slow but should be picking up in the next few weeks with some cooler water temps.

Good Luck!

Brown Trout
The trout bite has been really good the last few weeks with a lot of fresh stocked Brown Trout that the DNR Fisheries stocked! Try working the backs of creeks with a white or black Rooster Tail. A fast retrieve works best with the Brown Trout. Don’t be surprised if you catch a Brown in the 5-8lbs range. We have caught several big fish lately up in the shallow. Look for the Trout to slowly make their way towards the main lake over the next few weeks. The trolling bite should be turning on in a couple of weeks.

Walleye
The Walleye bite has been a little slow but should be picking up in the next few weeks with some cooler water temps.

Lake Lanier Fishing

The Spotted Bass bite has picked up on Lake Lanier Lately! We have caught fish at about every depth down to 30ft. There are huge schools of younger fish schooling in most if the creeks on the lake. Keeping a small topwater bait or jerk bait tied on and handy can be productive.
Striped Bass
The Striper have finally started their way up the Lake and into the creeks. We are catching most of our fish in the 16 to 25ft depths free lining baits. This bite should continue for the next few weeks.

Bass
The bite has been decent the last few days. Most of the bass are up shallow now that the water temps have come down. They seem to be feeding longer than normal. Maybe it’s due to having a nine month summer this year hah! We have had good success with Sebille Swim Baits in the back of creeks. This bite has not been an early morning bite. Try focusing on the main lake points early in the morning and then moving into the creeks around the mid morning time. We have caught some bigger Spots and Large Mouth on Supper Spooks working the brush in the creeks. This pattern should continue for the next few weeks and hold as long as the water temps stay consistent 60’s.
Trout
The Brown Trout bite has picked up over the last week or so. These fish seem to be congregated in and around the mouths of the creeks. We have caught numbers lately but not many over 2lbs. Sight fishing for the Browns seems to be the ticket. These fish are on the move and don’t sit for very long. We have caught most of our fish casting Mepps spinners and Blue Fox spinners. This pattern should continue for the next several weeks as the adult Brown Trout head up the creeks to spawn.
Yellow Perch
The Perch bite has been great this early Fall. We have caught Perch all over Lake Burton. Most of these fish seem to be congregated in the 12 to 16ft of water around grass or brush. Trolling Rappala Shad Raps ( Crawfish Color) SR5 has been the go to bait. These fish are aggressive and will eat about any bait you have in your collection!

Good Luck!

Lake Lanier Fishing

The Striped Bass bite continues to be good. The last couple of days we have landed on some big schools of fish over the south end of Lake Lanier. Balus Creek has been a good area lately. We have been downlinning Herring over a 45 ft bottom in and around the main Creek channels.
Good Luck!
