Fishing Reports

Lake Burton Fishing Report Water temp: 63deg Clarity: clear Level: 1ft below full pool Bass: Most of the bass have finished spawning. The bite has been great over the last few days. We have been catching a lot of fish on top water Frogs, and Sammy’s in the morning in pockets off the main lake channel. Midday the jerk bait bite has picked up in the creeks around brush and rock ledges. Most of the Spotted Bass and Large Mouths are hanging in the 6ft to 15ft of water range. We have lots of Herring starting to spawn on the sea walls. Look for these bait fish and cast in and around them with your jerk bait. White smaller jerk baits have been working best. This bite should continue for the next several weeks as the water temps rise into the 70s. Trout The Brown Trout bite has been a little slow lately. We have caught few fish in the backs of the creeks very shallow. Small Rapala count downs have been working best. Use a fast retrieve when cast these baits. I have also caught a couple of bigger Brown Trout and a few Rainbows on jerk baits while Bass Fishing Brush piles. Look for this bite to continue to get better as we head into the first couple of weeks of May.
