Today i guided a bass fishing trip on Lake Hartwell. We launched the boat from the Tugaloo State Park ramp. We started out throwing a jerkbaits around the points with no luck. We then switched to a fishhead spin rigged with a white fluke and immediately started getting bites. We continued to work rocky points where the river channel was near by and were landing solid two and three pound largemouth. I then switched tactics in search of some larger fish. We started fishing in the creeks over deep timber with the fishhead and this is when the bigger fish was caught. I was positioning the boat over in the deep creek channel and throwing the fishhead out over the tops of the timber. We had several in the in the four to five pound range. After mid-day the bite seemed to slow down some so we switched gears and started throwing shaky-heads around docks and points and caught several spotted bass with this pattern. There was one secondary point that we fished that we pulled five fish off the point in six cast. These fish were less than five feet off the bank. During this trip we never went south of the I-85 bridge. I cant wait to take the customer out again next week as we are going to try our luck on the south end of the lake.
