The Striped Bass bite has been decent lately. We have been catching most of our fish on free lining Blue Back Herring. Look for these fish in the backs of the creeks over a 15 to 25 ft bottom. Mid morning/ Mid day we have been switching to a down line Carolina Rig over a 30 to 40 ft bottom. We have started seeing some too water action the last couple of days. This is a great time of year for catching a Striped Bass on a too water plug or a fly.

Lake Burton Fishing Report

Bass
The was a little slow towards the begging of November but has rebounded. We have been catching fish shallow and deep. Most of our bigger fish have come off a 10 to15ft bottom back in the creeks using a chrome jerk bait. We have also caught some nice Large Mouth throwing sebile swim baits Herring color. Look for these fish to start biting later in the morning over the next few weeks. The bite should transition into a deeper 25 to 30ft of water spoon bite as soon as the water temps hit the 50’s mark.
Trout
The Bite has been great the last few weeks. We have been catching most of of fish around the shorelines throwing Rapala CountDowns and Little Cleo spoon’s. Brown Trout like a fast retrieve so work the baits very rapid back towards the boat. Look for this pattern to hold over the next few weeks.
Walleye
The Walleye bite has just now started picking up with the cooker water temps. We have had the best success trolling small crawfish colored crank baits at a speed of 2 mph. We have also caught a few bigger fish trolling XD-15 crank baits. These bigger baits work best about 180 to 200ft behind the boat. Look for the Walleye over a 29 to 39 ft bottom close to structure
( downed trees, and rocks). Look for this bite to get better every week as we head towards January.

Fall Fishing Lake Rabun
Lake Rabun has alot to offer besides taking in the beautiful shorelines. The fishing is some of the best in the southeast. The lake is full of LargeMouth Bass, Walleye, Spotted Bass, Yellow Perch, Crappie, and Chain Pickerel. I am sure there are a few species I am leaving out. With the abundance of BlueBack Herring these fish have plenty to forage on. We have caught a few Large Mouth Bass over 12 lbs in the last couple of years in the fall and spring. Lak Chatuge

The Spotted Bass bite has been good lately. We have caught some bigger fish on topwater the last couple of days. Keep a topwater plug ready for these surfacing fish.
The Hybrid Bass are all over Lake Chatuge. This population seems to be thriving very well. We have had the best success fishing over a 40 to 50 ft bottom in the mouth of the creeks.

Lake Lanier Fishing

The Bass bite has been on fire lately! We have been on some really big schools of Striped Bass. Most of the bigger schools of fish are on the south end of Lake Lanier in deep water. We have have good success down linning Blue Back Herring. Look for these fish over a 80 to 100ft bottom. Lake Lanier is full of trees and this seems to be where the Striper hang out. The Bass bite has been really good this Summer compared to years in the past. We seem to have a very healthy population of Spotted Bass and Large Mouth Bass. Most of the Large Mouth bites have been earlier in the day. These fish are holding close to structure ( docks, brush piles) in the 9 to 20ft depths. We have had good success using swim baits and prop baits (Duo Realis)for the bigger fish. Work these baits a little slower this time of year. These fish are not quick to take the bait but are typically bigger Bass. The Spotted Bass bite has been great on and near the main lake channels. The Spots are doing there normally routine follow the schools of Blue-Back Herring up and down the lake. Fishing long points with brush and grass has been most effective. A Drop Shot rig with a white or Pumpkin Seed Senko has bee in the go to bait. These fish are holding on a 18 to 25 ft bottom. Look for these fish to start transitioning a little shallower over the next few weeks as we head towards October.
Yellow Perch
The Yellow Perch bite has been consistent lately. We have caught Perch in 8ft of water and 20ft of water. Most of the fish we have been catching have been caught on Crappie jigs or small Robo worms drip Shot rigs. Look for the grass beds in the backs of the creeks. Having a good fish finder really helps finding the grass and perch. We use both structure scan and a Regular fish finder. Some creeks have more grass than others. This is where I would concentrate on finding the bigger Yellow Perch. Good Luck!

The Brown Trout bite has been a little slow lately. Hopefully with more consistent weather and water temperatures the bite will pick up. Look for these fish to feed early in the mornings. Try trolling over long points near the main river channel in 30 to 40 foot of water. We normally set our baits in the 20 to 25 ft depths. We have tried deeper over the years with not much success. Look for these fish to start feeding mid afternoon as we head towards August.

The bass bite has been consistent lately with most of the fish holding on a 25 to 35 foot bottom in and around brush. Drop-shotting seems to be the best technique. Try locating this fish on a fish finder. Lock the trolling motor down on the boat and fish directly over them. we have caught some really nice spotted bass and largemouth using this technique the last few days. We should see a mid-morning mid-afternoon topwater bite in the next few weeks. The lake seems to have plenty of Herring this year. These fish are moving up and down the lake chasing the bait fish. Look for these fish to continue to feed on this pattern over the next few weeks.

July is the month to catch a mess of Yellow Perch. These fish are staging in the grass midway back in the creeks. Finding them sometimes can be a little tough. Fishing in and near the grass seems to be the ticket. We have been catching most of our Perch on a 18ft to 25 ft bottom using small crappie jigs. Look for this bite to continue over the next several weeks.
